5 Common Small Business Growing Pains and How DNS Made Easy Can Help

Reston, VA (PRWEB) July 08, 2014

Growing pains: we all have them and none of us like them. Now, it’s time to talk about them.

We aren’t talking about becoming a teenager here, but the hard work and challenges that come with running a business. Owning and operating a company comes with many obstacles and, hopefully, many rewards.

DNS Made Easy experts tackle the five most common challenges and mistakes business owners run into while growing a company. Take a look:

Mistake #1: Plan for the best and forget the rest.

The website is up-and-running; orders and work are flowing in. Everything is going as planned. Then the website goes down. Downtime has a direct result on the bottom line. Take retail giant, Amazon, for example. The Seattle-based company went down for 40 minutes in 2013 and reported $ 5 million in losses during that period.

Remedy: DNS Made Easy’s Elite Resolution Platform is a proprietary multi-tiered framework that creates localized server redundancy and scalability within the DNS Made Easy enterprise IP Anycast+ server constellation.

That means DNS Made Easy’s Automatic DNS Failover & System Monitoring solution can guarantee as soon as a website, service, or internet connection is offline, all traffic will be automatically pointed over to a secondary IP address, server, or provider set up at another location. DNS Made Easy offers the best uptime in the industry.

Mistake #2: The “I must do it all” attitude.

This symptom typically occurs when there is a lot that needs to be done combined with a lack of coordination and unclear roles. Running a business is a multi-faceted job and being all things to all people and doing all things in all jobs doesn’t cut it for long. This strategy might work to start a business, but it doesn’t work to grow one.

Remedy: Share the responsibility. Let DNS Made Easy monitor your systems for the business. Our system will check every two-to-four minutes to ensure a business’ primary IP is responding. If it isn’t, DNS Made Easy will notify the administrator immediately and take action to reroute the IP address until the issue is remedied. DNS Made Easy believes having zero downtime is expected and required in the DNS business.

Mistake #3: Growing alone.

This mistake piggy backs on mistake #2. Failing to see what’s in your blind spots, not interacting with like-minded people and ignoring advice all creates a business vacuum. And we all know from 8th grade science, nothing grows in a vacuum.

Remedy: DNS Made Easy doesn’t want you to face your issues alone. That’s why we created 24-7 support via online or telephone.

Mistake #4: Not using technology to your advantage.

Writing notes by hand on college-ruled paper might work in the short-term, but a thriving business needs to utilize all aspects of technology to stay on top. Gone are the days of the card catalog filing system and in are the technology times.

Remedy: DNS Made Easy operates Internet backbones with the largest and most reliable data providers in the business. Providing answers to each DNS request with complete redundancy is what we guarantee for each of the 8 billion DNS requests we receive each day. DNS Made Easy knows managing our full network from contract, to rack, to router, to switch, to name server is the only way to fully manage and optimize it for speed, redundancy, and scalability. We handle 100% of network management in-house.

Mistake #5: Not maintaining costs.

Expenses can quickly get out of hand. Business loans and growing costs add up fast, which is why keeping a handle on expenses is important early on.

Remedy: DNS Made Easy starts our services package at $ 29.95 per year for a small business. That includes 5 million queries per month, two-factor authentication, 10 domain names and more.

The 7th Annual North American IPv6 Summit Welcomes Infoblox as Their Premiere Sponsor

Denver, CO (PRWEB) July 10, 2014

The 7th Annual North American IPv6 Technology Summit welcomes Infoblox as the premier sponsor. The theme of this year’s summit is Putting IPv6 to Work.

Infoblox delivers appliance-based solutions for secure, business-critical DNS, DHCP, and IP Address Management (DDI) and Network Automation. Over 7,300 global enterprises and service providers use Infoblox to control their networks.

“Organizations are finally ready to move IPv6 into large-scale deployments after years of testing and pilot projects,” said Cricket Liu, Chief Infrastructure Officer at Infoblox. “The North American IPv6 Technology Summit is one of the best places for IT networking professionals to learn how to make the jump from IPv6 as a theory to putting IPv6 to work.”

As the premier sponsor, Infoblox will be hosting the Keynote Speaker, Tom Coffeen, an industry expert at Infoblox, IPv6 evangelist and 17-year veteran of production internetwork design, deployment, administration, and management, as well as the author of “IPv6 Address Planning,” just published by O’Reilly.

“Infoblox has been a strong supporter of our event for the past few years,” states Ognian Mitev, Chairman of the Rocky Mountain IPv6 Task Force and host of the Summit. “They bring a wealth of experience and products to the networking community that serves as the foundation for successful deployments.”

In the past, the goal of the Summit has been to educate and provide outreach to help companies deploy IPv6. This year, the emphasis will focus on successful large-scale projects deployed over IPv6 which address the power of the network and simplifying networking deployments, focusing on strong IPAM solutions and ironclad DNS and DHCP services, like those enabled by Infoblox.

In addition to the keynote speaker, industry professionals will present case studies and best practices on implementing IPv6 in business networks with a focus on transitioning to single-stack IPv6. Security and addressing will also be covered, providing attendees with additional tools for IPv6 deployment. A new track this year will touch on Software Defined Networks (SDN) and Network Function Virtualization (NfV). These new paradigms have generated significant interest in the networking world.

The North American Summit will be held on September 24-25 at the Grand Hyatt in Denver, Colorado. A 2-day conference pass is $ 300 through August 15, with Student Pricing at $ 75.

In addition to the Summit, optional Training Sessions will be offered, for an additional fee, on September 23, featuring three sessions: Introduction to IPv6, Advanced IPv6, and a hands-on tutorial to Build Your Own IPv6 Lab.

A new feature to the 2014 event is a Virtual Trade Show. Registrants have the option to attend the event in person, or sign up for the Virtual Event with live streaming of speakers, plus access to sponsors.

DNS Made Easy Ranks in the Top Three Fastest DNS Services for More Than Two Years

Reston, VA (PRWEB) July 15, 2014

In a world where every second counts, wasting time on slow Domain Name Service (DNS) providers can translate into sluggish growth and affect the bottom line.

DNS Made Easy consistently ranks as the number one provider for the fastest DNS speed in the industry, according to SolveDNS, a third party network research firm.

DNS Made Easy kicked off 2014 with an average speed of 5.04 milliseconds, which was 3.3 milliseconds ahead (about 40% quicker) of the closest competition. The company strives to stay ahead of the competition by constantly working to increase speed.

June was no exception. DNS Made Easy had an average speed of 6.09, and the closest competitor was 1.32 milliseconds behind.

“These small increments of time add up,” said Steven Job, president of DNS Made Easy. “While it might not seem like a long time, in website download time, those are precious moments to keep a customer or lose them. We are very proud of our network dominance and we continually prove that we can offer a superior DNS service at the highest ROI in the industry. DNS Made Easy continually outperforms other enterprise DNS services that are often 100 to 1,000 times their pricing.”

The purpose of a DNS server is to translate domain names (http://www.example.com) into IP addresses (10.0.0.0.1). The DNS server does this for every new site you visit in the browser. This means, no matter how fast your Internet connection speed is, a site won’t load unless the DNS server has performed the lookup successfully.

“Customers who use DNS Made Easy have access to the fastest network in the industry,” Job said. “We cut query resolution by more than 50%, which vastly improves SEO for those domains. This is one of the main reasons DNS Made Easy remains at the top in the industry for speed.”

DNS is critical component of online media. Optimizing end-user satisfaction is a critical component of business and one way to do that is through a reputable DNS provider. DNS Made Easy has approximately 700,000 domains on the Internet, and is the largest enterprise DNS provider in the industry.

“We heavily invest in our infrastructure, networks, and name server equipment,” Job said. “The rate of queries is growing, and we work to stay ahead of the curve.”

DNS Made Easy built a core IP Anycast+ routed DNS architecture built with Juniper Networks equipment that has provides clients with the leading up time in the industry for the past 13 years.

DNS Made Easy is so aggressive when it comes to speed and performance, the company often ends up competing only with itself and its own times.

DNS Made Easy remained in the top three fastest DNS services for more than two years. To recap the last six months, here are DNS Made Easy’s reported times, and the next closest competitor:

January: DNS Made Easy: 5.04 (next closest was 8.39)

February: DNS Made Easy: 5.51 (next closest was 7.93

March: Competitor: 8.97 and DNS Made Easy was 9.09

April: DNS Made Easy: 7.99 (next closest was 9.99)

May: DNS Made Easy: 7.58 (next closest was 11.88)

June: DNS Made Easy: 6.09 (next closest was 7.41)

Securly Announces Freemium Web Filtering Offering for K-12 Schools

Santa Clara, CA (PRWEB) July 17, 2014

Securly, Inc. – the world’s leading cloud-based provider of Internet Security for K-12 schools – today announced the launch of its freemium offering for schools around the globe.

The freemium model offers a “lite” version of the product – securlyFree – for free, while paid users will have access to premium support and no usage caps. Bharath Madhusudan, co-founder of Securly, explains: “In the two years we’ve been providing our service to schools, we’ve run into a number of cases in which schools in underserved communities simply did not have the resources to afford a good web-filtering solution.” In many cases, IT admins in these schools have allocated more than half of their meager EdTech budgets to acquire a web-filter. “In these situations, Securly was often a solution that addressed a mandated requirement with a disruptively low price-point. Still, we have always asked ourselves if we could do better,” says Madhusudan.

Securly’s unique DNS to Proxy innovation and 1:1 Chromebook, Windows and Macbook management solutions all have a light operational footprint and this allows the company to offer a “lite” version of the product for free – perpetually. This move aligns with the company’s “double bottom-line” goal of helping the most high-need schools while bringing a key business model innovation to the table.

Though this “securlyFree” version of the product will have caps on usage that will meet the requirements of underserved schools, it will continue to bring to these schools the full range of innovations Securly pioneers. Says Madhusudan – “The hope is to allow schools around the world to benefit from safe online education using 21st century tools such as YouTube, search and Wikipedia – freely and easily.”

About Securly:

Securly is the world’s leading provider of cloud based analytics and security for K-12 schools. The founding team has a combined 20+ years of experience in the network security space. The company is a venture backed startup in Silicon Valley and serves hundreds of schools in North America, Europe and the Asia Pacific region. DNS Made Easy Hits Significant Milestones for 2014

Reston, VA (PRWEB) July 22, 2014

It’s half way through 2014 and DNS Made Easy is celebrating several mid-year milestones.

Milestone 1

DNS Made Easy ranks in the top three fastest DNS services for more than two years. DNS Made Easy consistently ranks as the number one provider for the fastest DNS speed in the industry, according to SolveDNS, a third party network research firm.

June was no exception. DNS Made Easy had an average speed of 6.09, and the closest competitor was 1.32 milliseconds (roughly 25% slower) behind.

“DNS Made Easy continually outperforms other enterprise DNS services that are often 100 to 1,000 times their pricing,” said Steven Job, president of DNS Made Easy. “Customers who use DNS Made Easy have access to the fastest network in the industry.”

Milestone 2

DNS Made Easy sees over 15% growth in its Global Traffic Director Services and releases plans to expand to a fifth region of geographic IP routing to provide better service. The expansion allows Global Traffic Director (GTD) to optimize and direct traffic flow based on geographic location of the end user. This allows clients to setup specific DNS responses based on the region of the lookup.

An example use base would be to direct end-users in Europe to European servers and users in United States to US-based servers.

“We have seen over a 15 percent increase in geo-specific queries using our GTD services,” Job said. “The demand for geo-aware DNS services is growing because people are starting to understand that routing to the closest web server and application server translates to faster speeds.”

DNS Made Easy segments traffic in four locations, with a fifth location coming this year. The locations include North American East (previously called US-East); North American West (previously called US-West); Europe and Asia with additional services in Australia (coming by Q3 2014).

Milestone 3

DNS Made Easy launches new tutorials to help clients and potential customers get started in their DNS education. The extensive tutorial help page covers eight topics: Getting Started; View All Tutorials; Managed DNS; Secondary DNS; DNS Failover; Global Traffic Director; Main Services; and Knowledge Base.

Users can learn – for free – how to add a domain name, delete a domain, view assigned name servers, configure reverse DNS, configure DNS failover and even learn how to start a free trial.

“The tutorials are a great example of how we develop technology based on what our customers need,” Job said. “Our clients expect more and we deliver more.”

Milestone 4

DNS Made Easy formed partnerships to benefit clients. DNS Made Easy partnered with SendGrid, and the relationship gives the company the ability to quickly and easily add application e-mail to web properties hosted on DNS Made Easy’s Enterprise DNS services.

As a SendGrid Partner, DNS Made Easy clients will gain access to a range of resources including training and support. Other free services passed on to DNS Made Easy clients include advanced reporting and analytics, basic and advanced deliverability features, marketing e-mail services and technical support. More than 150,000 web and mobile application companies use SendGrid to make e-mail delivery simple for their applications.

“Combining our DNS and monitoring expertise together with SendGrid’s productivity offerings open new doors for DNS Made Easy clients to access the tools they need to get more done in their day,” Job said.

Milestone 5

DNS Made Easy and parent company, Tiggee, successfully launched Constellix. Based on feedback provided by thousands of Constellix Sonar beta users, the heavily sought-after features of Constellix Sonar were released to further the development of a complete system monitoring and traffic optimization tool.

“The demand for an enterprise monitoring system is growing,” Job said “Our engineers have been using this monitoring system for years, and now we are able to share it with the public.”

About DNS Made Easy

DNS Made Easy is a subsidiary of Tiggee LLC, and is a world leader in providing global IP Anycast+ enterprise DNS services. DNS Made Easy implemented the industry’s first triple independent Anycast cloud architecture for maximum DNS speed and DNS redundancy. Originally launched in 2002, DNS Made Easy’s services have grown to manage hundreds of thousands of customer domains receiving more than 8.0 billion queries per day.
