DNS Made Easy Provides Industry Leading Tips to Avoid the DNS Blind Spot

Reston, VA (PRWEB) September 30, 2014

DNS Made Easy creates industry specialized tips to aid business owners in leveraging the Internet for sales, marketing or information. Business continuity depends on 100% site availability and fast-loading times.

Everything on the Internet relies on DNS: web, e-mail, video, audio, and more. This means, no matter how fast an Internet connection speed is, a site won’t load unless the DNS server has performed the lookup successfully. Unreliable and poor performing DNS directly affects Internet presence.

That means if DNS goes down, sites are offline. No customers, no orders, no revenue.

To help thwart unexpected outages, it’s best to make a simple checklist. It starts with covering thw bases.

Virus protection up-to-date: check.

System updates complete: check. It is crucial all name servers that respond to infrastructure are routinely updated to fix any open vulnerabilities. Keeping staff “in-the-know” is vital to success. Having the right systems in place keeps everything safe.

DNS failover and system monitoring: what? Use the power of DNS to move traffic around down systems so the site stays online all of the time. Never lose customer confidence for down systems ever again.

DNS is often the most overlooked and unmonitored application that has direct and immediate consequences on the bottom line – good and bad. Many companies that look for alternatives only when their DNS is down do not take the time to check the mirrors and look behind the curtain and examine DNS.

DNS Made Easy clients have reported DNS and site downtime prior to joining DNS Made Easy for a number of reasons. One such reason has been growing in reason for downtime is cyber attacks.

Cyber attacks are growing in frequency and have the ability to affect the bottom line for thousands of companies – in downtime and slow speeds. That can translate into millions lost in revenue.

Some companies use hosting services that provide DNS. This is typically included with the package rate of signing on for services. However, most of these companies don’t specialize in DNS safety, redundancy, global load balancing and decreased latency. That lack of specialized service may translate into significant down time.

It’s simple: the end goal of a DNS provider is to maximize uptime and keep traffic flowing to the site.

DNS Made Easy conducted a survey, which revealed more companies are realizing the difference between free registrar DNS enterprise, low quality IP Anycast DNS, and enterprise DNS. More than 87% of new users have chosen to use DNS Made Easy for its enterprise DNS, fastest speeds and overall uptime.

Demand for redundant and enterprise DNS has skyrocketed with recent amplification attacks hitting an all time high with DNS and the newer NTP amplification. DNS Made Easy’s history in uptime makes us the go-to provider for DNS services.

Plainly said, DNS Made Easy keeps you up-and-running when other services are being brought down by cyber attacks.

In recent DNS outages, large, well-known companies were down. Outages like these recent ones stem from what appear to be DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attacks. These attacks are geared at taking down websites and causing internet traffic jams. Recent attacks have brought down free unicast DNS services provided by registrars and other IP Anycast DNS services that were not designed to handle the capacity of current DDoS amplification attacks.

That’s a fancy way to say they lost a lot of money.

DNS Made Easy thwarts these attacks with an IP Anycast+ system, which is a network infrastructure, made up multiple geographically distributed points of presence around the world. This routing provides global load balancing, redundancy, decreased latency, and a true distributed response to denial of service (DoS) and DDoS attacks.

A network of this nature is fully redundant allowing traffic to travel the most efficient path to the destination. This creates a multi-level backup system.

In order to properly defend against attacks, be on the offensive and maintain uptime, outsourcing DNS is the best bet. DNS Made Easy has proprietary technologies designed to provide the most accurate and reliable DNS services in the world.

DNS Made Easy constantly researches, upgrades, and redesigns their network to exceed industry standards and insure it can defend against modern security threats. With 100% of network management being handled in-house, DNS Made Easy ensures you receive the highest quality of service possible.

NetNumber Joins Intel

Lowell, MA (PRWEB) October 07, 2014

NetNumber announced today it has joined the Intel® Network Builders program. NetNumber is joining this cross-industry initiative to spark innovation, reduce development effort, advance open network standards, increase operability, and ultimately, reduce time to market for NFV and SDN solutions. Through the program, members have access to a comprehensive reference architecture library of proven solutions that facilitate the building and optimization of software-defined infrastructure for the network based on today’s operator requirements.

NetNumber provides a common infrastructure called TITAN for all signaling control, policy enforcement and subscriber database services in the network. TITAN drives complexity out of the NFV model by delivering a single platform that integrates directly into the NFV service-orchestration layer supporting multi-protocol signaling-control services, including SS7/C7, DNS/ENUM, SIP and Diameter. TITAN is transforming how operators deliver new high-definition voice and video services to their customers while drastically simplifying the network core and reducing operating costs through either COTS hardware of virtualized architecture deployment options.

“With the introduction of NFV solutions in the core of the network, simplification of the signaling-control layer has become increasingly important for operators,” said Steve Legge, vice president of Corporate Development, NetNumber. “The signaling and control layer deserves particular focus because of the large number of existing silo functions that need to be virtualized, and the critical role these functions play in the network. NetNumber is pleased to join the Intel Network Builders program, and share our expertise in signaling to help accelerate the design and deployment of virtualized solutions.”

Today, TITAN is deployed on more than 350 servers on five continents, and supports more than 200 billion transactions per month.

DNS Made Easy Opens New PoP in Seattle

RESTON, VA (PRWEB) October 07, 2014

DNS Made Easy, the world leader in IP Anycast DNS services, recently completed their initial installation of a new Point of Presence (PoP) in Seattle, Washington.

Seattle is DNS Made Easy’s newest deployed PoP that increases their Mega-PoP list to now 13 facilities with Tokyo, Japan expected to be added in the coming months. The new Seattle PoP is expected to respond to DNS requests for DNS Made Easy customers in the Pacific Northwest area of the United States.

DNS Made Easy network administrators expect the new PoP to cut DNS response times in the region by approximately 30 milliseconds. The reduced time will come in the form of answering DNS requests that would have otherwise been routed to their San Jose servers, which would add response time due to the geographical distance.

The management of DNS Made Easy states that closer proximity servers does not just mean faster speeds. The added infrastructure addition also adds multi-level redundancy architecture, which means less downtime and faster responses.

“At DNS Made Easy we are continuously investing in our core network,” said Steven Job, president of DNS Made Easy, which has a 13-year leading up time, the best in the industry. “A network of this nature is fully redundant allowing traffic to travel the most efficient path to the destination.”

In addition to increasing capacity for the DNS Made Easy West region, the Seattle location makes the 13th city where the company’s DNS is routed. More locations mean a better foundation for the company’s DNS services, e-mail, authentication and authorization, and necessary storage systems and databases.

The DNS Made Easy IP Anycast+ network is a proprietary network infrastructure made up of multiple geographically distributed PoPs around the world connected with DNS Made Easy layer two network.

This routing provides global load balancing, multiple levels of redundancy, decreased latency, and a true distributed response to denial of service (DoS) and DDoS attacks.

“DNS Made Easy has continually been at the DNS forefront during our 12 year history,” Job said. “This can be verified by their top speeds and uptime. We often crush competing services that are exponentially more expensive with faster speeds, higher uptime, and a higher reliability of service.”

“DNS Made Easy is continuing to grow at record-breaking levels and we require a continual investment in the worlds strongest DNS network,” Job added. “DNS Made Easy constantly researches, upgrades, and redesigns their network to exceed industry standards. With 100% of network management being handled in-house, DNS Made Easy can dictate higher standards and better service.”

DNS Made Easy already states that roughly 70% of their traffic they expect to hit Seattle is already hitting their new PoP. They fully expect that near 100% of the Northwestern regional DNS queries to end at the Seattle PoP by the end of the month.

DNS Made Easy Upgrades Infrastructure in San Jose

RESTON, VA (PRWEB) October 14, 2014

DNS Made Easy, the world leader in IP Anycast DNS services, recently completed an infrastructure upgrade in its San Jose point of presence (POP).

The upgrades were finalized last week, and increased the company’s core routing and network infrastructure. The upgrade was necessary to support the company’s Layer 2 network that runs across DNS Made Easy’s worldwide network.

“This new upgrade will help grow our business and provide better services to our clients,” said Steven Job, president of DNS Made Easy, which has a 13-year leading up time, the best in the industry. “At DNS Made Easy we are continuously investing in our core network, and this upgrade part of that plan.”

The upgrades will also better handle the anticipated traffic levels during the next three years. It will also help secure online presence in the case of DDoS attacks.

The San Jose upgrades were also necessary to aid in the inauguration of DNS Made Easy’s launch of its newest Seattle PoP. Clients should expect increases in speed in the Northwestern United States, and increased safety and network redundancy due to the upgrades.

“DNS Made Easy is continuing to grow at record-breaking levels and we require a continual investment in the worlds strongest DNS network,” Job said. “This helps us to hit the goals we have going forward.”

The San Jose location will also support DNS Made Easy’s upcoming expansion in Tokyo, Japan, which is planned for January 2015.

This upgraded routing provides global load balancing, multiple levels of redundancy, decreased latency, and a true distributed response to denial of service (DoS) and DDoS attacks. The system also utilizes the best server location to respond to queries, which results in a faster response time.

“A network of this nature is fully redundant allowing traffic to travel the most efficient path to the destination,” Job said. “This multi-level redundancy architecture means less downtime and faster responses.”

Tallac Delivers SDN Cloud-Managed Networks for Branch Offices and SMB Customers

San Francisco, CA and Dusseldorf, Germany (PRWEB) October 14, 2014

Tallac Networks, a pioneer in SDN cloud-managed networks, will showcase an SMB branch office virtualization and orchestration solution at the SDN & OpenFlow World Congress in Dusseldorf, Germany. Tallac’s cloud-managed network solution enables businesses of any size to easily and securely create branch office networks that connect remote employees and their applications. In addition, Tallac will showcase orchestration of 3rd party network function virtualization (NFV) services including Brocade’s Vyatta 5400 vRouter and open-source pfSense Firewall supporting both VPN and firewall services from a single Tallac cloud dashboard.

A growing distributed workforce, coupled with the proliferation of mobile devices and cloud applications, are putting unprecedented demands on business networks. Small-to-medium businesses are limited in their ability to meet these demands based on today’s complex and expensive wide-area network (WAN) solutions. Tallac enables Managed Service Providers (MSPs) to deliver turnkey, cost-effective cloud-managed LAN services targeting SMB customers.

“Our clinics are highly complex mobile operations involving hundreds of volunteers. We are expected to quickly get our support networks set up and working at a wide range of facilities from fairgrounds in the desert to a tent camp supporting homeless vets,” said Mike Whaley, Vice President and IT Manager, California CareForce. “The Tallac networking solutions are one of the few things we don’t worry about. They just work,” continued Whaley.

Tallac enables MSPs to deliver managed LAN networking services that eliminate the need for multiple individual appliance-based solutions:

Virtual Branch Office: Create centralized, cloud-managed distributed LANs in minutes

Virtual Network Services: Deliver cloud VPN, firewall, content filtering, and DHCP/DNS services from a single dashboard

SDN Applications: Simplify applications for business owners to deliver customizable web experiences

“Traditionally, branch office networking solutions have been all about deploying single purpose, proprietary appliances to a physical location,” said Bill Johnson, co-founder and President of Tallac. “We realized that networking needs to be about securely connecting people and applications from anywhere based on centralized corporate policies and not proprietary appliances. Tallac is re-inventing how software defined networks extend from the data center to the corporate local-area network (LAN) — an entirely new way to cloud-manage network virtualization and orchestration of enterprise LANs,” continued Johnson.

Cluster based web services use multiple servers to spread hosting services on, so that there is no one single point of failure in the event of a crash or data catastrophe.

“Traditionally web hosting services are all on one server, which includes everything from your web email, to hosting, to analytics. If this server fails, you lose all of your services,” explains Jason Eisert, CEO of Sectorlink. “With cluster based web services if a server fails, you would only lose one part of your service/data.”

Essentially, this innovative new service is a way for companies to prepare for the worst. It’s the equivalent of a company deciding not to put all of its eggs in one basket. That way, in the event that something goes wrong, all is not lost.

This new service also simplifies things. As Eisert notes, “With cluster hosting, you can also have Windows and Linux hosting with one singular account instead of needing multiple accounts.”

So far, Sectorlink has received resoundingly positive feedback from the clients who have been using it.

“Thus far, they like the new product offering,” says Eisert.

He goes on to explain that the reason so many clients appreciate the cluster based web services is not only because of what it offers, but also because of its simplicity and its efficiency. As Eisert explains, “We’ve taken a centralized hosting setup to make it look and feel like a one-server setup. The front end interface gives it a traditional look for web hosting, which clients enjoy. They also like the control panel — it is very intuitive.”

If interested, cluster based web services can be purchased all together, or individually.

“Some of these services include mail service, web service, installation services, analytic services, DNS services — all of these can be added a la carte if desired,” states Eisert. “The main goal here was to get a more reliable hosting service.”
